| Friday 8th October 2010 |
| YARWOODS SHIPBUILDERS, NORTHWICH. Tony Barratt's lecture on Yarwoods Shipbuilders will give us a further insight into this extremely important piece of this area's heritage. This lecture will be fully illustrated with photographs from Tony's extensive collection. |
| Friday 12th November2010 |
| READINGS FROM WW1 – THE CHESHIRE REGIMENT. Major John Ellis will bring to life the conditions faced by local boys during World War 1 with readings and illustrations. This will give us a very personal history of this “war to end all wars”. |
| Friday 3rd December2010 |
| GREAT CHESHIRE FAMILIES. Doug Haynes will take us back to the Domesday Book and the Norman Conquest to give us a unique look at the great estates and the families that lived in and ran them. Doug's illustrated lecture will also bring us through the 19 th century and up to the present day. |
| Friday 7th January 2011 |
| ON AND OFF CHESTER'S WALLS. Alan Harding takes us on a walk, with a difference, around Chester's walls. As we go, we leave the wall to hear stories of bygone times and the back on the wall again. This is a light and entertaining view of some little known parts of Chester. |

| THE SPINNING WHEEL. Val Bryant, from Knutsford Heritage Centre, is a world renowned expert on the history of spinning wheels. Val will take us through all types up to the Industrial Revolution will show how they became a status symbol for the rich and famous of their day. Val has worked with, amongst others, the Royal Collection Trust and more recently with the V & A in London. |
| Friday 4th March 2011 |
| 1642 AND ALL THAT. Bob Thomas will introduce us to the conflict that shaped our democracy –the English Civil War. This illustrated lecture will cover the lead up to the war, the nature of the conflict and the development of the modern army. We will hear about 17 th century spin doctors and the impact on the population with special reference to the events in Cheshire. |

| HOUSEKEEPER AT DUNHAM MASSEY? – WELL, PERHAPS! Barbara Foster, who is a senior National Trust guide at Dunham Massey, will arrive this evening in late Victorian/early Edwardian costume and will take us around this fine family home. With tablecloths, artefacts and photographs, Barbara will let us into secrets and little known facts about its previous occupants. This will make your next visit to Dunham Massey even more interesting. |

| The Society’s A.G.M. at 7.30 pm is followed at 8 p.m. by CHESHIRE’S FINEST GARDENS.
Ed Bennis, who is one of the foremost authorities in the County, will guide us around some of the great and beautiful gardens of Cheshire. There may be some surprises that some of you may not know, but this lecture is sure to interest and simulate anyone who loves gardens and their heritage and history. |
