Programme for 2008/2009

As a member of Northwich & District Heritage Society you will enjoy free admission to the Society's programme of talks. Non-members are welcome on payment of £1.50 admission fee at the door.

Talks take place at Mid-Cheshire College, Hartford Campus, Chester Road, Northwich at 8:00pm. Plenty of parking and the usual disabled facilties. How to find the College.

Getting There
Buses: There is a bus stop immediately outside the college. For timetable enquiries telephone Northwich Bus Station on 01606 518050.
Train: Greenbank station is an easy 5 minute walk from the College and is serviced by the Chester-Manchester line. National Rail enquiries telephone 0845 484950.

TAYLOR'S BOATYARD, CHESTER – Geoff Taylor's lecture, postponed from last season, is about the Taylor family whose boat building business goes back to 1795. As well as the varied history of boat building and facts about the River Dee and its links with the canal, Geoff also reveals some deep, dark family secrets!

FARMING IN CHESHIRE, past and present - a personal viewpoint by David Rowlands. Featuring archive pictures of his family farm to illustrate the dramatic changes that have taken place over a century. A.W. BOYD - the remarkable Cheshire Naturalist - John Gittens celebrates the knowledge and achievements of this great man - a master of country lore and one of the pioneer researchers on bird life. His book "A Country Parish" focussed on Great Budworth and "The A.W. Boyd Walk" commemorates his love for this part of Cheshire.
